The sidewalk out of my office. From here, I go straight, go off the sidewalk, and attempt to make an illegal left turn onto a big street.

This intersection is strange because it’s two streets merging into one here. There’s a nice big spot to stand on the road, but not in front of cars, for bikers I assume.

I ride over a bridge that goes over the pathetic L.A. river.

I like to refer to this lovely intersection as ‘The Clusterfuck.’ It’s not so bad on a bike because you can just squeeze your way through traffic, but in a car, it’s awful. The intersection light (one right after the other) is too short and there’s unfinished road construction everywhere.

There’s a freeway exit on the left that can’t be seen in the photo. All the way in the distance is the hill that I always dread on the way home. One time, there was a loud bus behind me while I was riding up the hill; I set a personal record that time.

The relaxing last leg of my commute. Yay wide open residential streets. I’d enjoy this street more if there weren’t any speedbumps.

I also go over a defunct railroad crossing. Luckily, the rails have been tarred over.

One end of the railroad.

The other end. Now you know why it’s defunct.

it’s really cool that you can bike to work. how environmentally responsible and healthy of you
Well, it’s part environmental reasons, but most of it is just selfishness. I’d rather spend the gas money on other things (like food and games!) and if I don’t force myself to exercise this way, I never end up doing it.
Nice post; I followed a link to here from bikeforums. How long is your commute?
My commute’s about 7 miles both ways.
