When did I become a girly-girl?

This weekend, while I was at my parents’, my mom commented at my ghastly-pale complexion again. She accused me of being ill because I had no color in my cheeks. Ah, my mom is so sweet. I guess sitting all day in front of the computer doesn’t really give me that nice sun-kissed glow.
I felt like going shopping and the BF needed shorts (why are men’s shorts that don’t look ridiculous so hard to find?), so we ended up at a mall and I ended up at Sephora. Since I liked Tarte’s 24/7 lip sheer thing, I looked in their section and they had a good selection of liquid/gel blush which they call ‘cheek stains.’

At first, I was scared at the bright colors, but they’re a lot more subtle once they go on your skin. The liquid blush is tricky to get right at first, but by dabbing a little on my finger and then dotting it onto my face and then blending, it ended up looking pretty natural. I like that it goes on sheer so it doesn’t look like you have powder on your face and it actually makes you look like you’re not wearing any makeup at all. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s scented so sometimes when I turn my head, I get whiff of fruity stuff. I thought it was pricey at $28, but with the small amount I use each time, I can see this tube lasting me forever.

When I got to the check-out counter, I saw the Dr. Pepper logo on one of the boxes there and saw that they had Dr. Pepper lip balm with SPF 15!! At $10, the lip balm was about 5 times pricier than my usual Dr. Pepper Lip Balm, but since I’ve been complaining about lack of sun protection, I had to have it. It comes in a goopy tube-applicator ($9) or a flip-open mini-cigarette case ($10) and since I don’t like goopy tubes, I opted for the case.

I was disappointed that the case doesn’t have a mirror on the inside, which I felt there was room for. The lip balm is pretty solid and you have to apply it with your finger, but it went on my lips easily. The flavor is a lot more cherry than the Lip Smackers Dr. Pepper balm and it’s not as glossy, which is good when you just want to look normal. It’s not sticky or slippery and has only a hint of color, so I can see me using this daily. I wish they had come out with a tube applicator like the Lip Smacker lip balm, but I guess it would make the two too similar.
