No, we didn’t have all this in one night but I’ve just been lazy with posting about dinner. From top to bottom we have:
- okonomiyaki: I had a craving for some and the bf doesn’t get to eat it much being vegan and all, so I decided to make some. Besides the batter, it had cabbage, bean sprouts and green onions. I made my own okonomiyaki sauce with ketchup and worchester sauce and it came out alright. It would have been better if i had some kewpie mayonnaise on hand.
- endive and fennel salad: The BF made this one night. The dressing was lemony, which I always like, and the fennel was subtle enough where it didn’t overpower the salad.
- beet pancakes: This is the BF’s second time making these. These yellow beets came out better because it’s easier to judge their done-ness. This batch was delicious especially with the wilted beet greens on top.
- salmon and tuna poke: I was starving and had a craving for this, so I dropped by Bristol Farms and picked some up from their poke bar. Pretty good and it beats flying to Hawaii to get some.
- chickpea flatbread: My first time making this flatbread. After I got the baking time sorted out, it was easy and tasty. I also made some za’atar to spread on the bread. I even roasted my own eggplant and turned it into spread.
- Hitachino Nest beer: The wine store within walking distance carries Hitachino Nest Beer! The bad news is that it’s expensive there. I should stock up somewhere cheaper next time, but at least now I know where I can get some in case of an emergency. I usually like the White Ale, but this Red Rice Ale is tasty and flavorful too.
