Cold Weather = Warm Soupy Stuff

Since it’s been colder these past few days, I’ve been craving warm soupy stuff. Last night for dinner, I made a nutritious (I think, at least) brown rice porridge with carrots, shiitake mushroom, radish, mung bean, and flavored with ginger and miso paste. I topped it off with fried shallots and bonito. It was more filling than I thought.

Tonight, we went out to Mei Long Village for a going-away dinner of a former co-worker. I was too hungry to take a picture of the rest of of our meal, but it started with a tasty seafood and winter-melon soup.

We always eat the white rice porridge , but never with the brown rice. Good idea! Healthy too!
