Videogame Catch-up

I beat New Super Mario Brothers, which makes it the first Mario Brothers game I ever beat. I think the DS reincarnation of the fat plumber was pretty easy. It only took me about 5-7 hours total to get to the end, but that’s with skipping 2 whole worlds. It seems like the game devs wanted to make 2 difficulty settings for the game: easy - just run straight through and try to stay alive, and hard - collect as many coins as possible and unlock the other 2 worlds. That’s a good idea because it gives ADD players like me a chance to beat the whole game, but also have something to go back to when I want some more hot Italian plumber action.

I finally started playing Disgaea on my PS2 and I’m loving it. It took me a few hours tries to get into because I wasn’t reading the manual and I had no idea what was going on, but after finally understanding the mechanics of the game, I can’t believe I didn’t play this sooner. It’s like a stat-whore’s wet dream. I bought La Pucelle Tactics a year ago thinking it was Disgaea, but only now do I realize that La Pucelle is just Disgaea Lite! What makes Disgaea even more enjoyable is that I can rename all of the characters I create, so I’ve started naming characters after people I know. (Yes, even you Trung. I’m going to make you a gay archer!) With the amount of time I’ll have to put into Disgaea to not only beat the story, but also get through the end-game bits, I think I can wait for a price-drop on next-gen systems.
