I am now a proud owner of an eVGA GeForce 6800 card. I tested it out with a few rounds of Battlefield 2. At high settings and 4x anti-aliasing, it ran without a hitch. Before, with my old GeForce FX5500, whenever I got shot, I’d drop down to 1fps during the “recovery” time. Now, I can actually move around! I think I’m going to cry tears of happiness.

By default, the 6800 has a 12-pixel pipeline structure, but people have successfully unlocked 4 extra ones to total 16 pipelines. I haven’t tried to unlock the extra pipelines yet but I think I’m going to after I finish posting this. Updates coming soon. Unless my card blows up. Then I’ll cry tears of sorrow.

[update] I unlocked some pixel and vertical pipelines and it seems to be working perfectly. I maxed out all the BF2 settings and it runs as smooth as silk. I definitely recommend this card. There’s nothing better for under $200.
