HP Deskjet 3820 : 1
Engineer Dad : 0

My craptacular HP printer has died. This afternoon, for no apparent reason the cartridge cradle got stuck and would not budge at all, even when I unplugged the printer and manually tried to make it move. My dad “fixed it” by dropping the printer. The cradle now moves, but it ignores any data from my computer.

A search online revealed several others with the same exact printer and dilemma. They all had to buy new printers because apparently the printer is irrepairable. I would say, “Well, that printer lasted a good 2 years,” but it’s not like I used the printer regularly in the last 2 years.

I’m in the market to buy a new printer with photo-printing capabilities. I’m hoping to find something that’s less than $500 and with printer cartridges that are actually affordable and don’t cost more than my monthly car insurance payment. Any suggestions?
